Hi! I’m an author, fiber artist, and Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), in Anchorage, Alaska.
It all started in 1999, when I wrote and self-published the first book on locker hooking with fabric entitled, “Locker Hooking With Fabric Strips”, which started my business, Alaska Locker Hooking Etc. Locker hooking is an “old rug hooking technique” using fabric strips or thick yarn, a locker hook, latch hook rug canvas, and locking thread (yarn which is inside the loops). You can make rugs, wall hangings, clothing, purses, belts, baskets, blankets, frames, kitchen and bath items, tons of other home decor and accessories! I enjoy locker hooking because it is fun, easy, and portable! It’s such a great and inexpensive way of recycling materials!
I also enjoy crocheting and designing patterns! I especially love crocheting rag rugs. I sell my locker hooking and crochet epatterns on my Etsy Shop.
In 2010, I made an Alaskan Stuffie for my first grandbaby and they just keep multiplying! They are cute, soft, colorful, crazy, fun stuffed creatures! For ALL ages!
In 2014 I fell in love with Zentangle® and became a CZT (Certified Zentangle® Teacher)! The Zentangle® Method™ is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful abstract art by drawing repetitive structured patterns. I was trained by the founders of Zentangle®, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, in Providence Rhode Island. Anyone can do it! “Anything is possible one stroke at a time!” You will be truly amazed and fall in love with this magical art form .Learn more at: www.zentangle.com
I’ve had some big bumps in the road, but I’ve hung in there through the years because I love what I do, and I believe in “handmade”, and most of all I love my customers and students who I’ve gotten to know along the road. You can find me teaching at Blaines Art in Anchorage. I also host a free Zentangle® Social group once a month.
